This IOSH approved online course provides leaders, managers and supervisors with the essential principles of behavioural science to improve safety performance. Through six interactive modules, participants explore what influences human behaviour, how leadership shapes safety culture, and how to motivate teams to adopt safer practices. The course combines expert knowledge, practical tools and modern learning methods to create sustainable behavioural change in the workplace.

No prior technical requirements.
The course is designed to be accessible to all leaders, managers, and supervisors, regardless of their initial level of competence.

A good working knowledge of English is recommended to fully understand the course content.

The leader’s role in shaping safety culture
Influence, communication and leading by example
Safety vision and safe behaviour

Module 2: Avoiding Failure and Creating Excellence

Understanding the factors that lead to failure
Building a sustainable culture of excellence
Proactive rather than reactive approaches

Module 3: Key Drivers of Behaviour

Intrinsic and extrinsic motivations
Risk perception and human factors
Engagement levers

Module 4: Behavioural Science Applied to Safety Performance

How the brain makes decisions in the workplace
How to improve at-risk behaviours
Performance models used in psychology

Module 5: ABC Analysis

Behaviour analysis (Antecedent – Behaviour – Consequence)
Understanding what triggers and reinforces behaviour
Application in the workplace

Module 6: Goal Setting

Effective goals to influence behaviours
Performance goals vs. outcome goals
Continuous improvement and sustainable change

Assessment Methods :

Final Online Test

Duration: 40 to 45 minutes
Format: Multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ)
Number of questions: Depending on the version (12 to 14 questions)

Required Score to Pass

Minimum of 80%
This generally corresponds to 9 correct answers out of 12 or 14

Certification

An IOSH Certificate is awarded to every participant who successfully passes the assessment.

IOSH courses are offered in association with Astutis, ATC 1857.

E-Learning: Approximative duration 6-8 hours.

The durations indicated are approximate and based on a full learning day.
The program e-learning is delivered as a self-paced without an instructor. Participants may progress at their own pace once enrolled. Access provided to the platform is 12 months.
