The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Health and Safety Leadership Excellence is a one-day course designed for directors, managers, and supervisors who wish to strengthen their leadership skills in occupational health and safety.

The course is structured around one central unit divided into three key elements:

Element 1: Foundations of Health and Safety Leadership

Understand the value and impact of leadership on HSE performance.
The leader’s role in fostering a culture of prevention.
Introduction to the HSE “Make it Happen” model.

Element 2: Human Failures and Decision-Making

Identifying the causes of human error.
Decision-making processes and cognitive biases.
Strategies to reduce errors and promote alertness and safe behaviour.

Element 3: Leadership and Influence

Key qualities of an effective health and safety leader.
Effective communication and positive influence.
Building strong, trust-based relationships with teams.
Applying the HSE model in practice and developing a personal action plan.

Assessment Methods

Continuous assessment through reflective statements completed by participants throughout the course.
These reflections allow learners to analyse how HSE leadership concepts apply to their own professional context.
A NEBOSH HSE Certificate of Achievement will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.
